According to the Center of Disease Control ( CDC). As of 2010. Suicides were the 10th leading cause of death for all ages, with an average of 105 per day.
Suicide attempts are significantly higher among young adults aged 18-29 years, than they are among adults aged 30 and older.
Among ages 15-24 years old, suicide accounts for 20% of all deaths annually.
Females ages 45-54 years old have a suicide attempt rate of 9 persons for every 100,000. Females are more likely to have suicidal thoughts. And poisonings is the most common at a rate of 37.4%.
Males ages 75 years old and above have a suicide attempt rate of 36 persons for every 100,000. Males as a whole, represents 79% of all U.S. suicides. Males are more successful in carrying out a suicide attempt. Most common means of suicide among males are firearms.
The CDC has info up to 2010, but I believe the rates and percentages are more higher today than they were before.
