You are a spirit too.
I am a spirit that has a soul and exists on the earth legally, in a body.
How can I say, I am a spirit? Simply we are made in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:27). You might be asking , so how do we know that God is a spirit (John 4:24). We are made in their image and likeness, therefore we are spirits. The next question might be well how do you know we have a soul. According to Matthew 11:29; we have a soul. Matthew 11:29 are words from Christ Jesus himself. This next question is not a silly question. How do you know we have a body? We have a body because we can see it, feel it etc. We also have a body because of Genesis 2:7 also confirms we have a body and reintegrates that we have a soul.
What is the significance of this information? We will only touch on about 2 at this time. From John 4:23,24, ”
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
God wants us to come to him in our most purest form. The most purest form is the form before the fall of man (Adam and Eve). How do we do that? Man fell thousands of years ago and we can not go back to before the fall. That’s where the good news comes in. There was a man that died and he rose three days later, to wash away our sins. This man came fully man and fully God. He wanted to make sure we can have a relationship with our Father God in its purest form. He wanted to make sure sin will not block us from seeing and building a close relationship with our Father God. This man took our sins and nailed it to the cross. This mans name is Christ Jesus.
God told us how he wants us to come to him. God said,… in spirit and in truth. We already talked about the spirit and truth is more than a word. Truth is THE WORD. Truth is the living WORD (John 1). For more explanation on truth, click here.
Let’s go over this again. You and I are spirits, that have a soul and we exist legally on the earth with our body. We know that we are spirits because we are made in image of God and like God. We are 3 in 1. God is 3 in 1. God the father, God the son and God the Holy Spirit. God wants us to come and worship him in our purest form. The only way to do that is through Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the ONLY way. We know there are lots of people that say there are many ways to get to God. Any other way that we are trying to get to God, other than through Jesus Christ, is wrong and false.
Doesn’t it feel great to know that after all the things we have done; we know there is a way, to our first love. Image how much Adam and Eve loved walking with God everyday. Wow, that must have been awesome. Christ Jesus restored us to that first relationship. Come on and let’s get closer to our Father God. The price has already been paid in full.
