In the church there has been some teachings about footstools. It is very good that we are teaching about footstools in church so we can understand our place and authority in God through Christ Jesus. The word of the Lord declares, we perish due to lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6). To long has it been since the Apostles and disciples of Jesus Christ, that we do not establish the kingdom of God on the earth.
The problem, there’s confusion in the church about the footstool. I’ve heard some ministers give words of encouragement to the church saying; that friend or that co-worker that laughs in your face and envy you behind your back; God will make them your footstool. WRONG! I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT A SPECIFIC MINISTER. The problem with this kind of preaching is the congregation is all excited and start thinking of all the people who stabbed them in the back; the people who lied on them and used them for their own gain. It sounds good to the flesh, but it does not come in agreement with the word of God. If it is not in agreement with the word, you are in error.
First off, let me say this. If God was talking about humans, he would not have said for us to bless those who curse us and pray for those who purposely use us (Luke 6:28). Don’t believe me yet? GOOD! I am not finished. The word of the Lord states,” For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved (John 3:17). God is talking about humans. Now Satan and his kingdom of darkness has already been condemned. Maybe your saying, how do I know God is talking about Satan and his kingdom and not humans also? Maybe you’re not convinced.
Let’s go all the way back to the book of Genesis. In the book of Genesis, we read about a woman named Eve. Eve was tricked by Satan to eat of the only tree they were forbidden to eat from. After all of that God said something to Satan (serpent). God said that her(Eve) seed(Jesus) will bruise your (Satan) head and your (Satan) head will bruise his (Jesus) heel (Genesis 3:15).
With this scripture, I am going to help you understand better.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Ephesians 6: 11,12
God let’s us know exactly who we are supposed to be fighting against. We are fighting against Satan’s kingdom. We are not fighting against the humans Satan is using.
There is another scripture that let’s us know what happens to the humans Satan is using.
7 When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
Proverbs 16:7
When it pertains to humans, God let’s us know they will be at peace with us. But, we have to do it God’s way. No matter how good a sermon sounds, we must check it out. I have been there before when I first got saved.
A while back, I was going through some things. My life totally changed when I told God, yes have his way. I had a lot of resistance in my life from other people. One person in particular, God moved so this person actually blessed me while they were talking about me behind my back. When I saw what God did, I was so happy. I was in error and I was a babe in Christ and unlearned. I said God made that person my footstool. I’ve been there. I do not want anyone else making that mistake. I just thank God for his mercy. You could tell, I was still drinking spiritual milk.
LOL.
Thanks one reason I love God. He understands where we are and he sees the heart. He also wants us to grow in him and not stay spiritual babies.
I pray that the spirit of truth will continue to open our eyes and ears, and soften our hearts. He will rightly divide the word of truth.
