Control

Many times we seek control over situations in our lives. It is good that we want to do things in our lives. We have aspirations and goals. We enjoy seeing a task or job completed. We get a feeling of satisfaction from completing things. But, what happens when the thing we want most seems so big and so vast that we become overwhelmed? What happens when we have done everything we can think of and see no progress? What happens when we run out of solutions? What happens if it’s simply just not working out?

There is an answer to all of the questions above. The answer is, God.

Isaiah 55:8-9 New International Version (NIV)

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Why do I say the answer is God. God is never overwhelmed. God never runs out of ideas. God knows every solutions to every problem that can and will exist. God is a master planner who is successful. There is one thing though. One thing that many of us do not like or want to hear…

Proverbs 16:9 New King James Version (NKJV)

A man’s heart plans his way,
But the Lord directs his steps.

We have to give control to God. I know… I know it sounds scary. It probably sounds scary because we will longer have the control. We are no longer pulling the strings. When God works, we don’t always understand why he is doing it that way. As a matter of fact, we might not even see him working. What do I mean, we won’t even see him working. Let’s say we want a project done and we have to work with someone else. We can’t control the other person to do things how we want it done, many of the times. God on the other hand is everywhere and knows everything, so he has a better chance of speaking to the person at a level we do not understand. God knows peoples’ hearts.

Jeremiah 17:10

10I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, andaccording to the fruit of his doings.

I’m speaking from a personal place right now. Right now I’m in a position where my goals are so big that they seems insurmountable. I have tried for almost five years to speak to investors about the housing crisis. I’ve spoken to private investors. I’ve spoken to politicians. Everyone recognizes there is a housing crisis. Everyone admits we need a solution. But the problem is, how many are really ready to do something about it? Speaking to some investors; I was told I am not trying to run a race. I am trying to run a marathon. I know people want a good return on their investments, so I tell them all the other company’s I’ve spoken to. There are free government companies that help with finance. Learning how to budget is one of the milestone in owning a home. We also met with the career department to help partners get better jobs. We also have figured out how to keep the families in their homes.

Just like you right now, I have also decided to give it to God. I gave God the plans. I told God the problem. I said to God, ” Father, I have done everything I can think of to help all these families loosing their homes. Now Father, I give it all to you. God you know what is in my bank account. You know what I have and don’t have. God I am not looking at my circumstances anymore. I am looking to you, Father. God I’ve already met with contractors to fix up the existing homes and I’ve spoken to investors to donate so we can purchase the homes that are abandoned. I know God that you not only love me but you sent Jesus Christ into the world because you love every person. God you did not give me this dream and passion to let me down. So, Father God I trust you and give it all to you, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!”

Jeremiah 29:11 New International Version (NIV)

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

As I am trusting God working on my behalf; I am “fine tuning” the business. Because I believe the opportunity will come; I have to be prepared. It is your turn to give control to God. It might be scary at first. If you are anything like me, you want to physically see work being done. With God, he doesn’t do everything in the open. When it is time for it to be known, you will know. You can do it. You have done everything already. Why not, try God!
