It has been brought up to my attention that many people in the church community have different beliefs about being saved. Some Christians believe, once they accept Jesus Christ into their lives, they are saved immediately. Those Christians, like me, believe that Jesus blood has washed the sins away and our names are written in the Lambs book of life. I was naïve to believe this was a consensus across the board for all Christians.
Speaking to some Christians, I found out that some believe they are still working towards being saved. The scripture that is popularly used by these Christians, Matthew 24:13 and Matthew 10:22. The thing that stands out to me is the fact that the Bible uses the past tense “ed”. The next point is Ephesians 2:8, which also uses the past tense. Not only is it past tense but also, all the “works” in the world will NOT save you. We are saved by grace, through faith. The reason why God is leading me to point out past tense is because before you and I even existed salvation was already available to us. Jesus waited until the right time, to make it easier for us. Why? Because he loves us. Ephesians 6:16,states that salvation has to be accepted. The verse reads to “take on the helmet of salvation”. Take note of what God states. If we are not saved until Jesus comes; what helmet of salvation will we have on now to stand against the enemy?
God really wants Christians to get out of this false mind set. Please, we encourage discussion. Comment to this post and we will get back to you. Be blessed.
