Don’t Settle

While reading the bible and seeking the Most High God; I read Genesis chapter 11. The part that stood out to me was verses 31 and 32. ”

31 And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son’s son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram’s wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.

32 And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran. ” (KJV)

What stood out to me was the fact that Abram b.k.a Abraham’s dad Terah was a man that believed in many Gods. But yet he believed the one true God and left his land of Ur and was on his way to the promise land. Something happened, Terah’s belief and trust in God was choked out. Why can I say this? The bible says that Terah settled. Terah knew that Haran was supposed to be a passing through land , on his way to Canaan. Terah’s settling point was supposed to be the promised land of Canaan that Abram later pursued.

The bible says in Matthew 13,”

18 Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.

19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.

20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;

21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

The customary was more comfortable for Terah than walking out on faith and continuing on faith. The things Terah was comfortable with was speaking louder than his faith in God. The things his natural eyes saw spoke louder than a place he couldn’t naturally see at the time.

God gave me this revelation, people. Don’t settle. When we first walk out on faith, we are excited. But after a period of time, issues come up. We start to second guess God. We also start to justify what we are doing against the word of God. We might tell ourselves, maybe we heard wrong. Or maybe we might tell ourselves, if God said it, it shouldn’t take this long. Do not let comfort or problems allow you to give up on the promises of God, or your dreams for a better life. Remember Jesus came that we might have life and that more abundantly. (John 10:10) Don’t let your dreams die with you. The good part is, God is a keeper of his word. Even if you give up, God will speak to your children to fulfil his promise. But don’t YOU want to live to see the promises fulfilled also.

I am here to encourage you. Please, please, please don’t give up. You are closer than you think.

Open your hearts to God and allow him to speak into your life. 35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. (Matthew 24:35). God is a promise keeper.

I know what this feels like first hand because I’ve had to go through a process of refinement. For years now, I’ve been trying to get affordable housing for families. I have had one disappointment after another. I’ve wanted to give up many times because You’re Worth It Foundation was not getting the funding needed for the job. But there is a fire that burns within me that won’t let me quit until lives have been changed for the better. Just like you, we can not settle. It’s time to PUSH!

PUSH! PUSH! PUSH!

Be blessed and we love you. God loves you even more.
